Trenton Park, NS                                               April 23, 2016

Today I checked out a few of the trails at Trenton Park. The weather was perfect, warm but not hot and overcast but not raining. There weren’t many people out and about today so we had the trail to ourselves.  An added bonus, the mosquitoes aren’t out yet.

The trails were mostly dry but there were a few muddy spots.

Nothing we couldn’t easily navigate around though. There was a lot of deadfall, probably as a result of all the ice storms this winter. One thing to note is the signage is not really very good. They have plenty of signs but they are not marked with all the trails and they are not always accurate or tell you were you are. The trails are well used though, easy to follow and you will eventually come out where you started. We mostly used the trails in the woods (off the main trails) this time and they are marked with small plastic markers on the trees.

I was just happy to be outside without a winter jacket and mittens! The air was fresh and warm and I had my eye out for signs of Spring.

Such as this robin and pussy willows.

There is a thriving squirrel population and they let us know we were invading their territory.

There were lots of trees like this where squirrels had spent the winter shredding their stash of pinecones.

All in all, it was a tranquil walk in the woods and I will definitely be going back.
