Tor Bay, NS

On the weekend we decided to take a day trip to Tor Bay, NS. We had been there once before with friends but it was long ago and we didn’t remember much about it. We asked our GPS to take us through Sherbrook so that we could travel the Marine drive as much as possible.

It is quite beautiful with lots of inlets, blue water surrounded by green trees and lots of quaint little fishing villages.

All of a sudden our GPS said take ferry ahead.

This was a pleasant surprise for us. It cost $7.00 and is cash only.

We only had to wait a few minutes before it was our turn. There were only two vehicles on the boat on our way over.

The view was beautiful from the boat.

Finally we reached the park,

There were changing rooms, toilets, picnic tables and a wooden boardwalk that led to the beach as well as to a pond.

Most of the trees in the area were dead so the first visual wasn’t that attractive but the beach area makes up for it. I tried to take most of my pictures so you don't see this but I thought I should include one so you wouldn't be surprised.

The water is a gorgeous blue/green, the sand is sparkly white and there are lots of rocky outcroppings to feast your eyes on.

There are basically two sections, with this covered interpretive centre in between. It basically sits on a cliff of rocks in between the two beaches. You can take the boardwalk to this spot and picnic here as well.

To the left of this building the boardwalk stops quite suddenly. You can get down to the beach but it would take a bit of work. On the other hand, it would also be more private.

To the right is the boardwalk takes you to the another beach, the more popular beach area.

People from the area were taking these tiny grass paths to this beach instead of using the boardwalk.

If you walked to the end of this beach you would come to this rocky outcropping where you see birds, water crashing and even a sailboat.

It truly is a beautiful place to spend time on a summer day. Here are a few more pictures.

It felt like we had visited three beaches in one day. I will definitely be going back to this place.
